Kenneth “Ken” Harper, 89, of Venice, Florida formerly of Las Vegas, Nevada and Schaumburg, Illinois passed away Monday, February 10, 2020.  Ken was born October 14, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Charles Edwin and Gladys Veronica (Williams). Ken is survived by his wife Flora of Venice, Florida; sons Kenneth Harper and wife Donna of Maple Park, Illinois and Michael Harper and wife Chrissy of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter Laura Roberts and husband Kent of Venice, Florida; grandchildren Michelle, Ryan and Kate Harper and eight great grandchildren.  Ken was a member of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He worked for Motorola as a mechanical engineer for the majority of his 45 year career until his retirement. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11:30 am at the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ken’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association,

Tom and I have so many wonderful memories of Ken. Our most memorable ones are of the every Wednesday nights at Barnabys Pizza Place in Schaumburg. We went for beer and pizza and always had a blast. We will cherish those memories forever. Rest in peace my good friend and neighbor.Tom and Peggy Garbacz.

I remember as children, playing many games with Dad. It was always by two older brothers against Dad and I. We had such great times and has left me with such wonderful memories.
