Obituary

Ken Tatge, of North Port, Florida, (formerly of Griffith, Indiana), passed away Friday, January 15, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Olga K. Tatge; daughter Dawn Scanlon; sons Ken Jr. (Tracy) Tatge and Jimmy (Jenny) Tatge; grandfather of Tasha (Virgil) Tatge, Amanda (Jason) Collison, Tiffany Scanlon, Cheyenne Tatge, Justin Broom, Ashley Prichard, Cody and Justin Doan, and Joshua and Jeremy Henson; great-grandfather of Chantelle Tatge, Wyatt and Walker Prichard; brothers Mike and Paul O’Loughlin. Ken is preceded in death by his wife of forty-one years Bonnie Jean; parents Melvin Tatge and Wilnetta O’Loughlin; brothers Jimmy, Bobby and John O’Loughlin. Born in Beecher, Illinois, Ken had many diverse interests. He was a master carpenter, a master taxidermist, and an excellent hunter and fisherman. Ken taught motorcycle safety classes for 10 years, as he was a devout motorcycle rider and loved his Harley. Ken’s humility, his warmth, his love and respect to his wife, family and friends, made him beloved by so many. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ken’s mantra, and one that he lived to the fullest, was “Every Man Dies, But Not Every Man Truly Lives”. We will all truly miss this lovely, blue-eyed, and kind man, but we were blessed to have known him, and to have loved him. A Visitation from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by Ken’s funeral service at 7:00 pm, will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 Farley Funeral Home, 5900 South Biscayne Drive, North Port, Florida 34287.

Tatge Family, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Ken. Although I have not seen him since I was a child, I have nothing but fond memories of him. He was a wonderful man and I know will be greatly missed. Love and Prayers, Jayme

I only met Kenny a few times over my years with his brother, Jay (John), but that didn't keep me from knowing about him. Kenny was often a topic of discussion at our house when Jay would get into a reminiscing mode. He told me about the houses Kenny built, his love for motorcycles and hunting, and of course his kids. I was often told how Bonnie was a good cook and could make some mean brownies. I've been down memory lane many times with Jay as we looked through pictures of days gone by. Pictures of the brothers, their Mom, and younger, easier days. Unfortunately Jay and Bob were there to greet Ken as he got to Heavens door. Now, the once rowdy and fun loving bunch, are together again. May Ken rest in peace knowing he was loved by his family and friends. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Jimmy, Kenny Jr, Dawn, Olga, along with all the grandchildren ❤

Nature’s first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold. Her early leaf’s a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay. We love and miss you, Papa!
