Ralph Spencer Van Brunt was born December 9th, 1932 in Pryor, Oklahoma. He peacefully passed from this world, surrounded with love, on November 6th at the age of 86.
Ralph grew up on a sustenance farm in Oklahoma during the great depression; because of his family’s hardworking nature, they came through it. He joined the Air Force in 1957, at the age of 25, where he toured the world and made lifelong friends. He married a wonderful woman, Marjorie Joy Lymburner, in Germany. His oldest child was born in Thailand, his second child born in Japan and his youngest was born in New Jersey.
The Air Force had paid for his master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and in 1979 he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel and moved his family to Issaquah, Washington to work as an Engineer for the Boeing Company. Ralph retired from Boeing in 1995 and bought a motorhome. He spent the next 24 years on vacation, touring back and forth across the states with his wife, visiting his kids, grandkids, and many friends across the states.
In 2010, at the urging of his wife, he agreed to move to Venice, Florida. He loved the area and, on days when he was not vacationing in his motorhome, could be found watching the wildlife from his lanai.
His wife, Joy, passed in 2014, and he was fortunate to find a second great love in his life, Donna Silver, to share in his final years and travels.
Ralph is survived by his wife Donna; sisters Dorothy Eanes and Eldee Dunn; children Karen, Laurel (Mark) Magee, and Leland; grandchildren Karina, Alexander, and Abigail; as well as step-children Sharon (Peter) and Rita (Anthony) and their children. He is remembered by all who knew him as a good, warm, kind man, capable and helpful, with a zest for life and sense of adventure.
