Obituary

Robert David Fred Sr “Bob”, 91 years young, died of natural causes April 7, 2021.   He was born October 24, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN.  He started every morning saying he was “enjoying another day in paradise.”

Bob graduated from Muncie Central High School class of 1947. Following graduation, he served in the US Navy and stationed at Guantanamo Bay during the Korean War.  After the war, he married the lovely Jean Robinson in June of 1956.   They celebrated 26 years of marriage until she passed in 1982.  In 1960 he was the Founding Distributor in Indiana and Ohio for Little Debbie Snack Cakes.  In 1991 He sold Fred Distributing and moved to Florida.  Bob was a loyal member of American Legion, VFW, and the Elks.  Past President of the Lions Club and Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of American were groups he could contribute his time and talents. He enjoyed water skiing, camping, tobogganing, and snowmobiling.   When he retired, he became an avid golfer, boater, and gardener while maintaining his status “Everyone loves Bob.”

Survived by Son David and Melanie Fred Indiana/Florida; Longtime companion Jean Smith Florida; Grandchildren Tarah Fred Indiana, Alyse Fred Indiana, Logan and Mackenzie Street Indiana, and Madelyn Street and Noah Graham Indiana.  Great Grandchildren Colten Howard Indiana, Vincent and Lucas Fred Indiana.  Predeceased by Lovely wife Jean and parents Marion and Mildred Fred.

Visitation will be held Wednesday April 14th, at 2pm to 3:30pm and Service until 4pm with Deacon Jim Hanks at Farley Funeral Home 265 S Nokomis Ave Venice FL 34285.  Immediately following a Reception to be held at 338 Oakwood Circle Englewood FL.  An additional Service and Burial will be held in Crown Hill Indianapolis, Indiana 700 38th St 46208; details to be determined.

All I can say is we will miss Bob greatly. We spent many hours sitting in front of our garage solving the world problems, of which we changed nothing. Bob was a good friend, neighbor and a true gentleman. Corita and I send our condolences to the family.

Gene and I were so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. He always had a great smile and a cheerful outlook on life. The Englewood Isles Parkway Association has been so appreciative of the beautiful Christmas decorations donated by the Fred family. To the Fred family, We are best friends of Keith and Judy Dunlap and shared many lovely times and dinners w/Jean (Smith), Keith , Judy and ourselves.
