Thomas Edward “Butch” Maticka, III, age 77, of Venice, Florida, passed away on December 29, 2020. He was born in Midland, Michigan on January 22, 1943 to Thomas Maticka, Jr., and Thelma Elizabeth (Runnells) Maticka. He and his family moved to Venice in 1949 and he graduated from Venice High School in 1962. Butch worked in the construction industry for over 20 years and then for PGT Custom Windows & Doors for 10 years retiring in 2007. He was known around town for his beef jerky (the best in the west). Butch was an avid NASCAR fan and loved his family.  He is survived by his wife, Gerry Maticka; four children, Tom (Sally) Maticka IV, Marla (Joe) Valderrama, Korri Sibley, Kevin (Andrea) Maticka; two stepdaughters, Vicky Coleman, Robyn Bombenger; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He also leaves behind a brother, David Maticka and four sisters, Ruth Winterstein, Barbara Thornton, Bonnie Rivenburgh and Elizabeth Shaw.  Memorial donations may be made to Tidwell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238.  Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.  A message of condolence may be sent by visiting

Double smoked liverwurst! Butch got me into this big time. Ritz cracker slice of cheese little slice of onion, the hottest horseradish topped with mustard! All at once! Tears rolling down from the horseradish lol! Finally washed it down with a beer!
