Alfred B. Schupp Jr. , 99, passed away Friday January 29, 2021.
He was born on July 25, 1921 to Alfred Sr. And Mae (Haefler) Schupp in Queens N.Y. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a drill sergeant during World War II.
He worked with his father at the family business making hand blown thermometers at their shop in Richmond Hill New York. He went on in business to work at Duro instrument company and and later was a co-founder of Trend Instruments manufacturing bi-metal thermometers and industrial gauges. He was a high standing member of the American Society of mechanical engineers. Alfred was very active with the American Legion he was one of the founders of the Plainview New York chapter and served as a commander of that post as well.
When it was time to retire Al and his wife of 76 years Dorothy moved to Venice Florida where they enjoyed their senior years. Al also took great pride in being a long time volunteer at Venice regional Hospital.
Alfred is to be laid to rest at Sarasota National Cemetery in a private service.
Al is survived by his daughter Susan Hey , his son-in-law Stephen Hey, His granddaughter Layla Pouliot and her husband Peter , and three great grandchildren Lily, Kate and Will Pouliot.
