On Thursday, February 11, 2021, David Louis Dancz, loving brother and father of three passed away at the age of 78 in Nokomis, Florida from Covid virus related complications.
David was born on September 17, 1942 in Muskegon, Michigan. He married Patricia (Bowen) on July 9, 1960 and was married for 50 years, and together they raised three children. David was a long-distance truck driver (which he owned and operated for many years) and received multiple driving awards. Later in life, he switched careers to heating and air conditioning repair work. This is where he acquired his nickname “Cool Dave.” David was well known for his witty sense of humor. He loved music and played both the accordion and the base guitar, and played in a polka band for many years. He loved fixing up hot rod cars, and was an avid outdoorsman.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Edna (Grenell) Dancz; three sisters, Barbara (Dancz) Boomer, Linda (Dancz) Twiest, Kathy (Dancz) Hallberg; and two brothers, Rudy and Terry Dancz.
David is survived by his brother, Tony (Kieu) Dancz of Nokomis, Florida; his former spouse, Patricia (Bowen) Dancz of Muskegon, Michigan; his sons, Joseph (Nancy Mish) Dancz of Hudsonville, Michigan, Edward Dancz of Saratoga, New York and daughter, Cynthia (Dancz) (Thomas) Drier of Levering Michigan; four grandchildren, Leah Dancz (Brian Hodges) of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Ethan Dancz of Chestertown, New York, Destiny Drier (Elliott) Wilcox of Lutz, Florida and Eva Drier (Josh) Sprague) of Wesley Chapel, Florida. David also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Remy Wilcox of Lutz, Florida and Izek Thomas Sprague of Wesley Chapel. Funeral services will be postponed until the Summer of 2021 due to the Corona Virus Pandemic. Farley Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
