Dorothy P. Johnson, 94, of Venice, Florida died May 2, 2006. She was born October 31, 1911 in Salt Lake City, Utah and moved to Venice in 2003 from Rossmore Leisure World in Seal Beach, CA. Mrs. Johnson was the Office Manager for the State of California Saving & Loan Commission in Los Angeles, CA for 26 years, retiring on January 1, 1972. Earlier, she was employed as a Tax Assessor for Los Angeles County for 10 years. She was a long-time member of the American Contract Bridge League. She was an avid duplicate bridge player, participating in state, regional, national and international tournaments, and was recognized as a “Regional Master”, according to the master points she earned in competition.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her son Charles W. Johnson of Englewood, FL; granddaughter Juliet Karastelev of Washington, DC; great granddaughter Patricia Marie Karastelev; 5 nieces & 3 nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Russell W. Johnson and her grandson Gregory C. Johnson.
