Jim who was also affectionately known as Jimmy or J.D., will be lovingly remembered for his warm and infectious smile and his wonderful sense of humor; he had the ability to make anyone laugh. Those who met Jim instantly considered him a friend. He made so many meaningful connections with friends throughout his life and career. Jim was very active in sports and was a true outdoorsman; he especially loved bow hunting.
He was a 1968 graduate of Freedom High School, graduated from Northampton Community College, and he attended Breeden School of Welding. Jim used his skills as an ironworker and later worked for Mack Trucks before owning and operating a very successful painting business. Jim retired in 2015 and moved to Nokomis, FL. While in Florida, Jim had the time to fulfill his passion for helping animals as a volunteer for the Animal Clinic of the Humane Society of Sarasota County.
Jim will be dearly missed by all of his family. He is survived wife, Karen; son, Justin and wife, Maria; his grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye, James and Johnny; sisters, Jean Rau and husband, George of Bethlehem; and Jane Cottrell and husband, Jim of Arizona; and his brothers, Jeff Shireman and wife, Kristie of Harrisburg; and John Shireman and wife, Ana Lyn of North Carolina.
