Jaroslawa “Slawa” Maluk, 95 of Venice, Florida, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on March 25, 2021.

Slawa was born on April 9, 1925 in Ukraine. She was a retired Divisional Comptroller and a General Manager in the restaurant industry.

She was an active member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and an honored member of Br. 56 of the Ukrainian National Women’s League of America. She was also actively involved with the Ukrainian Community of North Port.

Slawa is preceded in death by her son, Taras Popel, who passed away in 2001.

She is survived by her husband, Roman Maluk and her daughter from a previous marriage, Alexandra Popel.

A visitation and panachyda will be held at 5:00PM on Monday, March 29th, 2021 at Farley Funeral Home, 5900 South Biscayne Drive, North Port. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, March 30th, 2021 at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7890 West Price Blvd, North Port.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the following: St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, the National Women’s League of America, BR 56 (Babusi and Orphan Fund) and TUM (Ukrainian Language Society).
