Kathryn A. Hambel passed away peacefully at home on March 30th, 2021 in Venice, FL. She was born on September 15th, 1955 in Harvey, IL to Carole and John Ford. During her childhood and teenage years, Kathy grew up in Rockford, IL and graduated from Jefferson High School. For the majority of her adult life, she lived in Fort Wayne, IN. Kathy’s occupations included manager of the Office of Student Affairs at the Medical School in Rockford, IL, Executive Secretary of the Dean at Kalamazoo College, classroom aid at Canterbury Elementary School in Fort Wayne, IN, and her most coveted job, being mother to her two daughters and her beloved pets.
Kathy was an avid knitter, having made hundreds of childrens hats, which she donated to Ronald McDonald House. Her other passions included reading mystery novels, playing tennis with her friends, and practicing yoga. Kathy was a member at Wildwood Tennis Club, a volunteer at Bishop Dwenger Saints Alive Charity Auction, an active participant at Knitting Off Broadway, and a member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Kathy was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, and was surrounded by the love and comfort of her faith, family, and friends.
Kathy is survived by her mother, Carole Fariss, of Englewood, FL; daughters Jennifer (Dustin) Faszler of Fort Wayne, IN and Emily Hambel (Wesley Pennington) DDS of Menlo Park, CA; brothers Daniel Ford (Michael Wright) of Venice, FL and David (Rose) Ford of Pompano Beach, FL; Gary Hambel MD of Fort Wayne, IN; granddaughter Amelia Faszler; and four nieces and one nephew. She is preceded in death by her father John Ford.
The family will have a private funeral mass at St. Raphael’s Church in Englewood, FL .
