Obituary

On Thursday, March 25, 2021, Kenneth G. Stern, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 76 due to a battle with Mesothelioma.

Kenneth (Kenny) was born on November 29, 1944 in Elwood, IN to Robert and Velma (Hiday) Stern. He completed his four year apprenticeship as a Tool and Die Maker/Machine builder and also taught the Robotics class for Delco-Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson, IN retiring after 35 years. On June 30, 1968, he married Charlotte Kaye Stanley. They raised two daughters, Michelle and Abby. He enlisted and served with the US Army on August of 1968 and served for three years including service during the Vietnam War as a Senior Tool and Die Maker/Machinist on the USNS Corpus Christi Bay, the Army’s Floating Aircraft Maintenance Facility, repairing helicopters.  He was also on Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter and EMT for over 10 years.

Residing in Anderson, IN for 26 years he moved to Nokomis Florida. Bored with retirement, and eager to share his knowledge he started a second career as an AutoCad design draftsmen and Safety Trainer for Ardaman  & Associate’s where he worked for another 22 years before retiring in October of 2020.

Kenny loved teaching, and had a huge passion for computers and anything electronic. He was looking forward to fulfilling his bucket list traveling out West when COVID hit. He was quick witted and always armed with one liners that everyone enjoyed. He was always loving and willing to give anyone a helping hand. He loved his family immensely.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Robert and his mother, Velma. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, his two children, Michelle McJury (Jason) and Abby Smiley-Krause, his brother, Keith Stern (Susan), sister Diana Kaye Stern and three grandchildren that gave him much pride and joy, Clark Smiley, Kaitlyn McJury and Kamryn McJury and nieces, nephews and several cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held in Anderson, Indiana at The Perkinsville Community Church, at 2:00pm on May 15th, 2021 and a Celebration of Life will follow.   Unfortunately, we will not be holding any services in Florida.

Instead of flowers, Kenny and his family ask that donations be made to help children at St. Judes or Shriners Hospital in his memory.
