Bradenton, FL- Nidra Jo (Danforth) Flook, 83, passed Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021 at her home, following a brief illness.
She and her identical twin, Nedra Jean Tharp, were born Dec. 21, 1937 to Berlyn Raymond “Bud” and Martha Elizabeth “Betty” (Anderson) Danforth. Nidra, affectionately known as Joie, was a lifelong resident of Anderson, IN until moving to Bradenton, FL in 2012.
Nidra was a 1956 graduate of Anderson High School and married Hoadley Edwin “Pud” Flook Feb. 9, 1957. They owned Hoadley’s Restaurant in Alexandria for 32 years. In 1988, she received her cosmetology license and worked in several salons doing hair. Nidra later worked at St. John’s Hospital in dietary and medical records where she retired.
Nidra was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority since 1958 and was part of the Red Hat Society, The Queen B’s.
Nidra was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who lived for her family. She loved caring for her grandkids and great grandkids as they grew up. She loved to sit outside and enjoy the sun, read, and do word searches.
Survivors include three children, Randy Jay Flook, Kimala Ann (Kenny) Bourke, Kelly Jo (George) Pierce; five grandchildren Alicia Kay (Jeremy) Molnar, Zachary Jay (Kelly) Idlewine, Jeremy Joe Idlewine, Caleb Edwin (Jp) Flook, Chelsea Jenaye (Phil) Whiteaker; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her great grandson, Jordan Alexander Molnar, for taking care of his great grandma in the last year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and mirror twin sister.
A graveside service and Celebration of Life, along with her sister and brother-in-law, Nedra and Carl Tharp, is planned for July 17th, 2021.
Cremation is under the care of Farley Funeral Home in Venice, FL.
