Steve Mitchell, age 86, of Venice, FL died on May 5, 2006. He was born in Providence, RI on July 14, 1919, and moved to Venice from Cranston, RI 12 years ago. He was an accountant for General Electric – Wiring Device Department in Providence for 33 years until he retired in 1981. Steve served in the Navy in WWII in PT Boat Squadron 16. He was a member of the PT Boaters Association and Epiphany Cathedral in Venice.
Surviving family members include his wife of 62 years, Helen Hennessey Mitchell; sons Robert S. Mitchell of Newton, MA; Chrys D. Mitchell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Stephen E. Mitchell of Englewood, FL; daughter Joanne L. Mitchell of Holliston, MA; sister Frances Miele of Cranston, RI; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 8th from 2-4, 6-8 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice on Tuesday, May 9th, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
